How We Work

Culture risk does not fix itself through awareness campaigns or policy updates. It requires understanding how behaviour actually forms, what conditions reinforce it, and what it takes to shift it in a lasting way.

Our work is structured around three stages: Diagnose, Design, and Build. Each can be engaged independently, but together they take organizations from a clear-eyed diagnosis of where culture is creating risk, through a targeted strategy to address it, to the internal capability to manage it over time. At every stage, our approach is grounded in behavioural science and adapted to your specific context, sector, and objectives.

Diagnose

Identify where culture creates risk.

We begin by building an accurate, evidence-based picture of how culture is shaping risk in your organization. This means going beyond surveys and dashboards to understand how decisions are really made, and where the gap between stated policy and actual practice is creating exposure.

For risk and compliance teams, that exposure is in how people escalate, exercise judgment, and respond to competing pressures. For safety leaders, it is in the gap between safety procedures and what actually happens on the ground, in why near-misses go unreported and why certain behaviours persist despite training. For HR and people teams, it surfaces in the gap between organizational values and everyday behaviour.

We draw on qualitative research including in-depth interviews, quantitative methods including custom surveys and behavioural data analysis, and a structured review of the conditions and systems shaping behaviour on the ground. Findings are synthesized into clear insights that connect cultural patterns directly to operational, safety, compliance, or strategic risk, giving leaders a rigorous, defensible foundation for action.

Design

Design & implement behaviour change interventions.

A clear diagnosis is only useful if it leads somewhere. Drawing directly on diagnostic findings, we work with your team to design a targeted strategy that addresses the specific behavioural conditions creating risk in your organization.

We apply behavioural science principles to redesign the conditions that shape behaviour, including decision pathways, incentive structures, leadership signals, and social norms, so that the right behaviour becomes the path of least resistance rather than the exception. For safety teams this means targeting the specific cultural drivers behind unsafe behaviour, not rerunning the same training. For risk and compliance teams it means designing interventions that shift how people actually respond to risk, not just what they know about it. Each recommended action connects directly to the behavioural risk pattern it is designed to address.

Build

Build enduring capability for culture risk management.

Lasting culture risk management requires more than a one-time intervention. It requires an internal capability -- leaders who can recognize behavioural risk signals, governance structures that surface and respond to culture risk, and the tools and frameworks to make it a repeatable practice.

In this stage we work alongside your team to embed that capability. For risk and compliance teams this means building the frameworks and indicators to manage culture risk on an ongoing basis. For internal audit functions it means developing a repeatable culture audit methodology and framework embedded in your audit programme. For safety leaders it means embedding behavioural risk into existing EHS governance so that safety culture assessment becomes a structured, ongoing part of how safety is managed, not a one-off exercise. For HR and people teams it means equipping leaders with the skills and habits to sustain behavioural shifts and hold culture accountable over time.
